G-PGA , Poly-g-Glutaminsäure ein natürlich vorkommendes wasserlösliches anionisches Polymer, das aus Homo-Polyamid von D- und L-Glutaminsäure-Einheiten zusammengesetzt ist. Die freie Säureform ist wasserunlöslich. G-PGA ist ein optisch aktives Biopolymer mit einem chiralen Zentrum. in jeder Glutamateinheit.
Es ist ein extrazelluläres Polymer, das vollständig biologisch abbaubar und für den Menschen nicht toxisch ist. PGA wird von mehreren Mikroorganismen Bacillus-Arten synthetisiert. B. licheniformis und B. subtilis werden im Allgemeinen zur Herstellung von PGA verwendet.
PGA wurde erstmals 1973 von Ivanovic und seinen Mitarbeitern in Form von Kapseln in Bacillus anthracis entdeckt.
Über PGA ist bekannt, dass die Hauptkomponente im viskosen klebrigen Schleim von Natto, einem Gesundheitslebensmittel in Japan zu finden ist. Natto, wird seit mehr als tausend Jahren privat und gewerblich genutzt und konsumiert. Die Herstellung gelingt über mit Wasserdampf erhitzte Sojabohnen und deren Fermentation mit Bacillus subtilis Kulturen. PGA fungiert als natürliche Feuchtigkeitsspender und seine hygroskopischen und feuchtigkeitsspendenden Effekte sind vergleichbar mit Hyaluronsäure. Es hat umfangreiche adsorbierende Eigenschaften und wird daher als Wasser absorbierendes Molekül verwendet. Vernetztes g-PGA ist eines der nützlichsten Super-Absorbent-Polymere.
Die Anwendungen von g-PGA in Hautpflegeprodukten wurden von Ben-Zur & Goldman (2007) untersucht. Sie fanden, dass g-PGA ein gutes hydrophiles Feuchthaltemittel ist und die Fähigkeit hat, die Produktion von natürlichen feuchtigkeitsspendenden Faktoren wie Urocansäure, Pyrrolidoncarbonsäure und Milchsäure im Vergleich zu Hyaluronsäure und löslichem Kollagen zu erhöhen. g-PGA, kann die Elastizität, der Haut mehr als Kollagen und Hyaluronsäure erhöhen und führt durch verbesserte Wirkstoffzufuhr zu einer glatten Haut und wünschenswerten Ergebnis der Hautpflege.
Gamma-Polyglutaminsäure wird in Form seines Natriumsalzes geliefert.
