Sunovi-AVB: A Powerful UVA Absorber (INCI Avobenzone, CAS 70356-09-1)
Sunovi-AVB is an advanced, oil-soluble UVA filter. It offers broad-spectrum protection by effectively absorbing harmful UVA rays, making it a key ingredient in sunscreen and skincare formulations. When using Sunovi-AVB, ensuring adequate solubility in the final product is crucial to avoid recrystallization, which could compromise the formula’s effectiveness during storage.

Maximizing Performance with Photo-Stabilization
For optimal performance, Sunovi-AVB must be properly photo-stabilized to maintain its efficiency even under prolonged sun exposure. A highly recommended stabilizer is Sunovi-OCT, which enhances the longevity and stability of Avobenzone. Additional stabilizing agents, such as 3-(4-Methylbenzyliden) Camphor or BP-3, can also contribute to better UVA protection, ensuring that the formula remains effective for longer periods.

Known Incompatibilities in Formulation
Formulating with Sunovi-AVB requires careful consideration of its compatibility with other ingredients. Multivalent metal cations, such as iron (Fe), aluminum (Al), and magnesium (Mg), should be avoided due to their potential to cause discoloration or form poorly soluble complexes. In particular, aluminum-coated Titanium Dioxides can lead to crystallization. Additionally, Sunovi-AVB should not be combined with Zinc Oxide as it may form complexes that precipitate out of the solution.
